That's how Yahoo! Answers works. It subtracts 5 points when you ask a question, and you get 2 points for answering one. You get 10 extra points if someone chooses your answer as "Best Answer".

yes 5 points but who cares, you can´t buy anything for your points except the ability to vote on questions and the like.
