I have a love of animals and i want every kind there is. I am 14 going on 15 and i have 18 pets. I have 2 cockatiels, 2 parakeets, 1 juvenile iguana, 1 baby water turtle, 2 central american wood turtles, 3 rats, 1 bullfrog, 2 cats, a water frog, fish, a corn snake and a couple fish. I know that sounds like a lot so thats why I am asking. Its like i cant stop caring for more and more animals. I dont live on a farm or in the country, i live in a small house in the middle of the city.

I guess your small house will be a zoo in the middle of the city..

It may not be, if you are taking care of them properly.
Are you sure you are not a hoarder? There is actually a medical condition where people love to collect things and never throw anything away. It falls in with compulsive obsessive disorders.
Some of those people transfer those manic urges to animals. The part of your statement that worries me is the "I can't stop caring for more and more animals" Maybe you need help.
At least do not get any more. You are almost 15 and are most likely to start dating sometime in the next 2 or 3 yrs and then what'll happen to your little mini zoo?
Just keep taking good care of the ones you got and exercise some restraint, do NOT get any more.

I think it depends on the way they are took care of and if the house smells because of all of your pets. I assume most of the animals are in an aquarium so they are not a problem if you keep the aquariums clean and feed them. Also your birds better be in cages or your cats will eat them. Good Luck with your pets and I think when you have to many, you will not need to ask anyone I think you should try to work part time in an animal shelter or something and maybe that would fulfill your need to help animals..

I was the same way, I actually reached 26, I believe. I had everything from dogs, cats, to rats & turtles.
But what you have to take into consideration, is whether or not you can afford the medical care for all your animals, if a sickness comes around, and is contagious. If you cannot, you may need to consider re-homing some of your animals. (Which is what I did.) Now, I live on my own, and I have 1 cat, 3 rats....and that seems like a lot to me, now that I'm the one paying the finances behind them.

lol we have 17 we dont have a prob with it. as long as ur house is big enough and the habitats you keep them in are big enough. We have 3 bird each in a cage about 4 times the size normal people keep t hem in, our 2 rabbits have half a room, my 3 guppys have a ten gallon tank, our chickens have the whole yard, the horses have big pasture at the barn we board them at(but they are coming home soon) and our 3 cats and two dogs have the whole house exept for one room

oh and we babysit dogs alot(only 2 at a time)

our house doesnt smell real bad every sunday we spend the whole day cleaning and every morning my mom gets up early enough to feed then we spend all afternoon cuddling and playing lol

That is alot of animals for a teenager to look after, what with school and everything. But as long as you have enough time and money to care for the animals properly, then I see no problem with having that many pets.

I love animals, too, but you need to know when to stop buying them. Eventually, you won't have enough time to clean them all out and care for them, and as a result, they may get sick. If you really do love animals, then you'll realise that not getting too many is for the best.

I have 31:
1 dog
2 cats
2 fire bellied toads
7 hermit crabs
1 snake
12 fish
6 snails
I'm 27 own my own house and am a stay at home Mom. I hope that when your older and move out you can take some with you or if your parents are ok with it help you out. Most of my pets are rescued from their previous owners or the SPCA. As long as your not breeding and are giving them the best care they can get then have a blast!

I think you better stop with collecting more animals...the more you have the less time you have to spend with the ones you have and that is not fair to them.
Also there is the question of how much room you allow each pet to have.Check with your pet-shop or vet to make sure you allow each one enough room to live comfortable. Other wise you are cruel to the pets you are keeping.
Don't forget the most important things to keep your pets happy and healthy,is to CLEAN their places EVERY DAY, FEED and
give FRESH WATER EVERY DAY on time. This will keep them healthy!
This should answer your question...if this chore is to much ...you have too many pets.

It is obvious that you love pets. I think it is all right to have pets ong as you take care of them the way that you should. But i think it is against the law to have that many pets when you live in the middle of the city.animal control would think you couldn't;t take care of them properly because you have so many even though you do take care of them.when you live in the city there is usually a limit to the number of pets of any kind.be careful about that.i think your way over the limit.
God Bless

I'm sure that 18 pets is far too many. You should check with your county/city to find out what the limitation is. There is certainly a health risk (to you and all of your pets) if there are too many.

If you like animals so much, volunteer at an animal shelter. Go work at a pet store when you're old enough.
