...and neither of them wanted you to talk to the other one. how would you deal with this?

Well..... when I was out with one of them, I wouldn't bring up the other one's name.

Hire a referee, and let them pound the stuffing out of each other. Or, alternatively, you could lock them both in a tiny room and not open the door until the screaming stops.

its so difficult not to talk behind the others backs. I did it and oh i got in trouble. Be nice to both. And tell them if you don't like me being friends with them then don't be my friend. It's harsh. But maybe they'll still want to be your friend and just not talk about the other person

accept that the two do not get alone but explain that you will continue to be friends with both of them regardless of their opinion of each other...and keep them away from each other! don't try to fix them! let them work out their problems on their own...until then you will just be friends with each of them separately. after all they are both still good people to you!
