Please try to relax. You don't say how many weeks pregnant you are. If you're early in your pregnancy, the radiologist MAY want to do a vaginal ultrasound IF he or she can't see well with the regular ultrasound. If you're later in your pregnancy, a vaginal ultrasound should not be necessary. I know how hard it is not to stress out about things like this, and I wish you the best of luck!

If this is your first visit, and you haven't been going to a gyn then yes you will be checked. Why does it scare you so much? Whether it is a man or a woman, the doctor has done it a million times, they have seen everything. Besides if you are pregnant, your doctor should know more than your best friend does in that region of your body. It is very important to tell your doctor everything, don't keep anything, or it could hurt your baby. Most doctors are very gentle, and try not to make you uncomfortable more than they have too. Usually you get checked on your first visit, then, if you don't have any problems they won't check you again until you are further along.

well a vaginal exam is normal during a prenatal appointment and I understand that you're worried but that is more of a reason to go. You need to make sure everything is okay. But because you are so worried, before you have any exam done you should discuss these worries with your doctor. I know the vaginal exams are uncomfortable and a little embarrassing but all of us women have to them, especially us mommies to be! Good luck sweetie and just be as calm and relaxed as you can be (its better that way)

I hate vaginal ultrasounds also. You don't have to be 20 weeks to do regular ultrasounds. I just don't like being partially naked in a room with people I don't know...and your legs are in stirrups. I talked with my doctor about not being comfortable with a lot of "viewers" and he made sure that only the necessary people, no trainees or students, were in the room. He also made sure nobody stepped to the part of the room that was below my waist until my legs were out of the stirrups and I was covered. I thought they would laugh at me but he really understood. Even though they usually say "we see dozens of these a day" just let them know, "great, but mine is personal".

If you're scared of pain or them inserting or otherwise stretching the area i'm afraid you best get used to it because there's going to be that and a whole lot more in a while.
Just tell them your concerns when you're there. I'm pretty sure you can refuse almost any kind of check, but it might not be healthy. They can't force you to do anything you don't want to do though, maybe you could come back another time when you're more prepared.

Do not worry, dear. If you don't agree with it there is nooo way they can oblige you. I had my first u/s last week and it was all just on the belly. I don't know how you americans live but in other countries doctors can show you your baby without going into your privates... Good luck, i'm sure you'll be fine. You're gonna be so happy to see the little one!

Why does being checked vaginally frighten you at all? You'll be checked that way more than a few times during your pregnancy so you may as well over come your fear asap. Are you scared that being vaginally examed will cause miscarriage? It won't.

Don't worry-I ahd to have 2 vaginal ultrasounds during the early part of this pregnancy and they do not hurt-just some pressure. They cannnot do an untrasound on your stomach until you are around 20 weeks-otherwise the baby is not big enough to see all the parts. It will be ok-everyone does it!

Wow, if you are scared of that, what are you going to do when you have to give birth? Good luck, and try to relax. Wait until they start checking your cervix when you're 36+ weeks!! That's uncomfortable.

I don't understand what you are worried about. They of course will give you internals throughout your entire pregnancy. It isn't painful, just uncomfortable. Relax and just think you get to see your little baby tomorow.
