I like to start with the easiest thing possible. I like the psychological feeling that you get when you knock out a lot of things in a small period of time. It makes you feel like your on a roll. Take homework for example. Whenever I'm doing homework, I always do the easiest assignments first. Like right now, I'm doing my Media HW first. I'm doing it first because the assignment appears to be the easiest. I will then do the next hardest assignment and then the next hardest. The faster I can do things, the more it makes me feel like I'm accomplishing a lot. I went on a road trip this summer. I started with the longest leg of our journey, then the next longest and then the shortest. The time went by so slow. On the way home, the shortest was first and then the next shortest...The time went by real quick. As for the house cleaning, I go bottom to top floor. But that's just me.

First, I put a load of clothes in the washer. Then I mop all the tile floors . While they dry, I vaccum all carpets. Vacuming carpet can cause dust to fly and land elsewhere. So, dusting all wood furniture comes next. While dusting in the bedrooms, I make the beds. Then I do the dishes. And last comes the bathroom/utility room. Everyone is usually out by then. And the washed clothes are ready to be put in the dryer.
I like to do things in a logical, routine manner. If the ceiling fans need dusting, I will do them first as the dust can get on the floor.

I start at the back of my house and work my way to the front. I also start at the top in case any dirt falls on the floor, and then do the bottom when I finish up.

I am in an apartment. I start with laundry, then sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, dishes, kitchen counters, bathroom (try to get all the stuff at the top, such as counters, done before sweeping and mopping), cat box, cats food and water, pick up clutter, etc. I try to do a little every day so I don't have so much to do at once. Makes it easier, and makes it so I have more time for other things (schoolwork, fiance, cats, friends, family, Y! A, e-mail, etc).

I start with the bathrooms, because there the dirtiest, then bedrooms, den, living room and kitchen. So I zig zag, I'm different that way.
