My ob said that there was no conclusive research that perms, coloring, or straightening were bad for the baby... that isnt very reassuring to me.
Also, my sis had a perm during pregnancy and it didnt take well. Something about hormones?
Personally, I would wait.
Good luck with your pregnancy.

Back when I was young I would have told you flat out no, but times have changed. I suggest consulting your doctor. Keep in mind that your entire system has changed and that if you've done this in the past prior to getting pregnant you may not have the same results now as even your hair changes during pregnancy. I suggest trying the new straightening shampoos and conditioners and flat irons, that's what my daughter uses and she's never been pregnant, she just doesn't like the chemicals.

why not. i dont' think that any chemicals that only works for your hair will harm your baby. the chemical treatment is more of an "outer" chemical than an "inner" chemical. (wording????) it's not like it goes into your bloodstream or anything so straighten away, just don't go overboard, lol!!

yes it is safe to get your hair and nails done as normal, also you can do waxing and other things the main spa treatments to stay away from are chemical peels and saunas/hot tubs.
**But if i were you, I would make sure while getting my hair/nails done that it is in a well ventalated place as to not inhale too many of the fumes.

I was told I could color my hair. I have done it a few times since I became pregnant. I am 17 weeks now and my doctor said it was fine. You might want to run it by him though. He'd know for sure. :)

I wouldn't do it just to be on the safe side...the chemicals are sure to affect the fetus...
