Hitler underestimated quite a few critical things. He was not a tactician, & his orders hampered the abilities of his very competant generals to conduct the war from the German side.

Delving into the military history of WWII will turn up many examples.

or one thing, Hitler did not anticipate America entering the war so soon, or at all. America was forced to declare war on Germany after the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbour. So the entry of America into the Europeon an Pacific War fronts was shocking. Hitler had yet to really feel the impact of a 2 front war of his own. He had postponed the invasion of England and had attacked Russia, which was still going relatively okay. The Russian winter would change history in many ways.

But remember, America and Canada were operating munition plants and building war materials unhindered by air raids, shortage of supplies, shortage of power. A country under attack cannot produce war materials as efficiently, so Germany was behind from the start.

I don't think Hitler ever really pondered the thought of America operating 2 theatres of war. Had Japan not attacked, might America ever declared war at all?

The thing you need to remember about this is that the U.S. did not have an very good go at the two front war. They had to drop atom bombs to win the war on one front. They were also aided by the fact that Hitler eventually spread his troops to thin by fighting on two fronts and then they gained the advantage.

Hitler was too crazy to understand the intricacies of the real world. Read William L. Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany, and you'll see a pattern of his unstable mind contradicting itself many, many times.

No he WAS worried when the US entered the war. He knew it would happen eventually, but he hoped he would have Europe secured first. I think he really underestimated the strength of the Soviet army then. He spread his forces too thin and suffered several defeats on the Eastern front and North Africa. Then came D-Day.

I don't know, I've seen the same movie showing in way more than 2 theatres at one time. I don't understand what hitler has to do with the US film industry though.
