About last week I got a bad cold, with a runny&stuffy nose, sore throat, etc. And I missed school last week (I missed swim practice too). I'm on the road to recovery, so going back to school on Monday. (This week we only have school until Wednesday, because Thursday is Thanksgiving.) I don't want to miss swimming because then I'll be out of shape, and not know details about upcoming meets, and stuff like that; but I also don't want have a relapse, so I'm not exactly sure what I should do.

go ahead and swim. just go easy. all of the humidity and chlorine will clear all of the snot out of your nose and make it so you can breath better. plus while you swim, your body produces a natural drug that makes you feel good. but if you start feeling bad, slow down or get out because it may get worse, but it may not. so just try and hopefully you feem better

Yes Ruby, you should go to swim practice. It can take 3-4 months to return to your previous condition after taking two weeks off of swim practice. I don't know at what level you are swimming, or how old you are, but you probably should have toughed it out and gone to practice last week also. I wouldn't miss any more. Getting wet does not make you sick. If you feel that your resistance is down, go to your local drug store and pick up a bottle of echinacea. This is a natural immunity booster. Follow the directions on the bottle and get yourself back to practice or you will ruin your season.

You should get all the rest you can, and drink a lot of juces and eat well. Your body needs all the help it can get to combat this cold. Shimming is not the best thing to do right now, stay warm and rest. Swimming would only put an extra tax on you system and could cause you to have a relaps. You can always get back in shape latter.

go to swim practice, but don't swim if you still feel sick. instead, just watch the other swimmers and listen to what the coach has to say about upcoming meets and the such. you should rest and take plenty of fluids. also, you can still exercises to stay in shape. do stretching and running so that when you do get back in the water, you won't be so much out of shape.
