My emachines desktop computer is corunpt. It's harddrive starts when i plug in the power. But then when i press the power button it's proccesor does not start up and nothing works. Every time i shut down the computer is still running. Then when it boots up it said "Operating System not found". But now it won't start up at any cost. I need plenty of help.It has my application Development and school files on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Aunt had the same problem with her Emachine and it was the motherboard. Emachine are not the great computer.

If it is still under warrenty take it to shop and if not buy a new Dell or HP with 2gigs of ram.

I agree its probably a virus. I know emachines pretty well (I maintain three of them). They give you an "emergency recovery disc" when you buy the machine. What you need to do in order to save your files is tell it that you want to save your files during the recovery. Unless you reformatted the drive they by default come with the OS on a separate partition then where your normal files will be saved. So it should be very easy to recover them, just read the instructions carefully.

it sounds like you have may had a virus or a currupt file some where which has caused your opearting system to be lost. you could try inserting your system disk and running revovery consel and see if that helps if not it may be a case of a complete reinstall, any how in most cases you can recover your data back even after a formatted hard drive. GOOD LUCK but in future back your work up.
