Your mom may check you but there are many moms who do not check at all. There is no way the school can tell who has been checked and who has not so all have to be checked. Lice are a problem and efforts must be made to control.

My 8 year old grandson came home from school with lice. We called the school and told them and then treated him before we sent him back to school. He came hom a few days later with lice again, we had to contact the school again and treat him again. Every time we called the school and reported it, they sent a letter home to all the other parents. Well come to find out, there was a little boy in his class that had them and was not being treated for them. He has 8 brothers and sisters and the school checked a;ll of them and they were all infested. If the school had not checked them then my grandson would have continued to come home with them and we would have just stayed on a vicious cycle.

because there are a lot of people who don't think of checking.
and all it takes is one child with them to end up with an infestation in no time at all
a little bit of inconvenience now is worth saving a whole lot of trouble later on
