a good start is to investigate about Celia Cruz and groups like "La Sonora Matancera". (google them with those names). They're very important on the origin of the salsa as we know it know.

IICR, there are different kinds of salsa: "salsa de salon", which is elegant and the one people dance in the contests and "sensual salsa", with a more erotic and/or romantic content on the lyrics.

You can say we all latins love salsa even when might not be what we prefer to hear. See, I don't like salsa very much but there are themes and songs that I simply can't resist to dance :P They say we have it in our blood

ummmm.....puerto ricans made the salsa dancing so u can say.....salsa was orgiginated in puerto rico and it spreded all over the carribean.
