so, if he wanted to use my house for his wedding, I'd still expect him to ask my permission. That would just be a common courtesy. What was he going to do, not ask and just hold a famous wedding there. If he had and I was Princess Maria, I would have had him arrested.

Isn't that always the case ? You can't just take over someone's property without permission. Learn something every day. I got to meet quite a number of European nobility when I was in the Military Government of Bavaria. The word humble doesn't seem to describe any of them.
