The Spanish came in like they owned the place. Soon they did, viciously, violently. The French came in like they didn't want to own it, but get anything of value they could bargain for. The English came in like they owned the place and sort of spread out so there was no room for others.

Some came for conquest. Some came for profit. Some came find a place for themselves. Some had a place for the aborigines, some did not.
