Simple-- the idiots at the head of the toaster making company want to make your life hell. I bet they get a real kick when they see you scream at the toaster through their tiny toaster-cameras; I bet it just makes their day!

I don't know why it's there, but it seems to be what I get every time I use a toaster! Either that or cold dry bread.
