To be honest, I have never seen a sequel to a movie that was better than the original. There may be some out there but its more of a way to drag the original and pure story out. Just like I believe books are better than the movies that originate from them. The books have more details and you can use your imagination which is better than having someone else's interpretation of book events..But that's just my personal opinion.

Return of the Jedi, Army of Darkness, T2, Shrek 2, Chronicles of Riddick, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I'm sure there are others but these are the only ones I can think of right now.

I thought that the second Godfather movie, which traced the rise of Vittorio (Vito) Andolini into the head of his own mafia family as the Godfather, Vito Corleone, was actually better than the original Godfather movie.
