Are you sure you're not really wanting something like a sports team? Entertainment is one thing, but a ministry has a spiritual side to it that has little to do with entertainment. To truly build a ministry, one must build on right principles, and upon solid truths.

In my opinion, many young people want something real. Real is not just superficial entertainment. Real is not something to distract them from seeing the lack of authenticity in their leaders. Real is something that their leaders live, and can share by experience.

So begin by thinking of real, meaningful, ways to help the young people develop socially, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Most of all, spiritually. Frivolous entertainments are short-lived and shallow. But there are many forms of more wholesome entertainment. We have been surprised here where I am working with the level of interest among the young people for activities such as birding, and nature study. Good Christian music can be very wholesome. You might develop a choir, quartet, or band. Have a Bible knowledge quiz contest. Have some fun activities, and games. But don't try to make the young people feel like if it's not entertainment it's not worthwhile. Many of the most meaningful and satisfying experiences in life will have next to no connection to entertainment. Be real and genuine.
