Promises are made every day. Whether they are kept is a different story. Some people make many random, empty promises in their lifetime. Then there are some of us that no matter how difficult things become, would never break even the smallest promise.

Yes, we make promises all the time. A contract is considered a promise. The true question is, can you make a promise and keep it and the answer must be subjective to each person, based on their morals and ethics. There are also promises made by groups and governments...they can be made, but if they can be kept is a question no one can really answer.

It depends on the promise being made...Promises are made every day. But...I think the concern might be...can one always follow through on their promise?
As human beings...I think it is difficult to make a promise believing that it will be a solid one. There are way! too many obstacles we have no control of, therefore, sometimes forfeiting ones ability to keep a promise.
That is why they say...a promise is a comfort to a fool.

Depends on how big the promise and the honesty of the person promising to keep the promise.

If you don't keep the promise, does that nullify the promise?
Not really. It just shows a failure to carry out an intention, or a degree of moral turpitude. To make sense of the faillure, we need to refer back to the act of promising.
I don't know exactly what you're getting at.
