These two were some of Bush's biggest supporters in the war.

Military victory is no longer possible in Iraq, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said in a television interview broadcast Sunday.
"If you mean by 'military victory' an Iraqi government that can be established and whose writ runs across the whole country, that gets the civil war under control and sectarian violence under control in a time period that the political processes of the democracies will support, I don't believe that is possible," he told the British Broadcasting Corp.

Mr Blair admitted that Western forces have been powerless to stop the descent into violence. Challenged by veteran interviewer Sir David Frost that the Western invasion of Iraq has "so far been pretty much of a disaster", Mr Blair said: "It has"

"lucky2bal..." I agree, I dont trust either of these guys, especially Kissinger. I didnt want us to go to war with Iraq. But now that we've screwed up the whole country, I dont think we can cut and run either, that would be the true disaster. I would like Bush to be truthful to the people though, and instead of blaming "terrorists", I would really like to hear (from him) the true nature of what is going on over there, instead of cute little quotes and talking points like we need to "stay the course". A real leader(I would hope) would be as honest with the people as possible, regardless if it hurts.

When is the last time these two were right about anything?
You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose.
So pick which opinion they have had you choose to believe.
Iraq is a must win.

Bush believes that he has the U.S. in Iraq for all the right reasons, whether we all agree with them or not. As far as the one responder saying that it took the support of congress to first enter the war, of course no congress would not support the President if the intelligence was correct, which congress had no reason to disbelieve at the time. Since then however, there has been many more questions than answers and parallels to Vietnam along with the lack of WMD's found are causing many to question the wisdom of remaining. The intelligence of Bush and his administration along with the flip-flopping over how to continue means no consensus will ever be reached. Nor was there one in Vietnam. As far as Blair and Kissinger, does it matter? This administration has done what it wants, when it wants.

What constitutes a victory?
If a death sentence for Saddam Hussein is a victory....we won.
If a democratic government is a victory.....we won.
The fact of the matter is that these people (Iraqi's) need a civil war. I know that sounds harsh. But you haven't been here. They need something that will force them to unify the sunni/shi'ite sects. As it stands right now, all these sects do is take, giving nothing in return and simply expecting everything to go their way. Freedom should not be given, it should be earned. Until the people of Iraq are willing to stand up for their own rights and come up with some solutions involving compromise they will never be happy. They were not happy with Saddam, and now they are not happy without him. They have earned nothing and do not understand the value of what they have been given.

Imagine how many people throughout history were told that their ideas or objectives were impossible.
Instead, they held steadfast in their beliefs and the new world was discovered, the Wright Brothers flew through the air and, who knows, maybe a democracy in the Middle East will be successful and help stabilize this volatile region.
And, remember, this is a unique war - a war against, not an army, but an ideology - there can be no expert opinions based on past experience or history. There can only be opinions - and we all have those.
The success of this objective far outweigh the consequences of failure.

Bush won't admit it because: 1. It would be a sign of weakness on his part and tarnish the "tough-guy" image he's tried to cultivate and 2. He's an idiot.

At the risk of sounding defensive, I cannot presume to speak for Mr. Bush. Who knows what he's thinking.
I think its important to remember that Congressional support got us into the war. Not necessarily Republicans.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, the true fallout from the current administration will leave the wrong scapegoats.

He will probably never admit he was wrong, he has to much at stake. His pockets and his Friends pockets are overflowing with money from this war why would he jeopardize that. I think with the last election he has spent his political capitol that he was so proud of after he stole the last election.

Bush did admit ONCE that the war is not going the way he would want it to go. But before that, he was deceiving us about the war situation on a daily basis.
