What kind of question is that? “What are the materials in making pottery?” That is the vaguest question. First of all, why do you want to know? How much do you already know about making pots? What kind of pots do you want to make? Where does the basis of this question stem from?
It is not possible for me to answer such a question without a fundamental foundation of your prior knowledge about ceramics.
Ceramics is very complicated. It involves many steps, many methods and endless results. If you have a specific question you would like answered about ceramics or pottery, I would be more then happy to answer them.

clay that can be bought or gotten from a clay pit in your area purchased clay is the best until you have had time to check out the quality of any clay that is around your area it is not fun to go to all of the trouble to make a pot and then have it ruined in firing. Check out the web for site about ceramics and they will be full of info on pots

Well if you're building it by hand you'll just need some clay, high fire works best, and a kiln. You'll also need some high fire glazes.
If you want it to look more professional you'll also need a pottery wheel.
In order to make it smooth and angled the way you want you'll also need several tools, regardless of whether you make it by hand or wheel. You'll need a rib (rubber scraping tool), a sponge, and wire tools (wire hooks on wood to sculpt).

Basically, clay, straight from the ground, is all you need to make a pot (plus some way to fire it).
