Well.........seeing as the Axis powers were the aggressors and Germany, Italy and Japan were all pursuing expansionist policies and invaded for the sake of territory and resource gains, then the Allies should (and did) win WW2.

Some would say at what cost, however.

WW2 certainly removed Britian from its position as an imperial power and did serious damage to its economy.

When asking that question you have included some qualifier, such as, the one with the most guns, or the one which killed the most people, or the one which most supported individual freedom.

Clearly, the one with the most resources won the war and at the same time, it was the one which most supported individual freedom. So, by having the most resources helped, but founding that on a moral base of supporting individual freedoms, the side that did win, should have won.

Even so, it was a near thing. If Hitler had waited just another year before starting his wars of aggression, he might have been the first to develop an nuclear weapon. With this he would have easily won the war in Europe and Russia. At the same time Japan was developing a bomber which could fly to Central North America, drop its load and return to Japan. The idea was that Germany would give it the nuclear bombs to attack America.

Things could have been very different. If Japan and Germany won the world would have been enslaved.

Which part of the war are you asking about? There were two fronts, the Pacific and the European.
As far as the European, I think we should have won to keep HItler from taking over the smaller countries.
As for the Pacific, I think we should have done what we did faster to keep so many Americans from having to suffer the 3 1/2 years in POW camps. (My father was one of those men!) We won and should have.
BUT ...
Hitler had once said that another country couldn't beat America from without ... only from within. This is happening now with the inner problems we are having. It isn't an overt war, but so subtle that most people aren't paying attention to it.
We did win both areas of WW II, but we are loosing the war inside our own country.

I'm not being rude here, but I think we should put the past behind us and just move on.

Allies, of course! My country is on the Allied side. If history repeats or goes back in time, I would fight for the Allied powers. No doubt.

That is obvious. The side that should have won did win. I would be surprised if any explanation of that is necessary.
