Usually soup is served as a first course during a meal accompanied by the main course and a salad. However, soup can be served as a main meal if hearty ingredients such as beef, chicken fish, vegetables, and something starchy such as potatoes pasta or beans, and along with some freashly baked bread, soup can be served as a main meal.
Now in the Seinfeld episode Jerry wanted to get some laughs and a question for Yahoo answers and he accomplished it. Thats fun isn't it?

I don't watch Seinfeld but I do believe that it can be a meal as long as it's a hearty soup with vegetables, noodles, meat, whatever.

A soup that just contains broth isn't a meal.

LOVED THAT EPISODE!! (like all of Seinfeld, of course!)

"Was it a cup or a bowl?
Did he crumble crackers in it?

Now, then....soup from the SOUP NAZI....THAT'd be a MEAL!! (if you get bread, George!! HAHA)

Depends what's in it. If it contains all the major food groups, carbohydrate, protein and vegetables of the brightly coloured variety,in the right proportions, then probably, if you eat enough of it.
