Pre-med is not a major, therefore you cannot major in it. Pre-med is a program designed for students who plan to go to medical school. The program guides you through all the requirements for med school - prepares you to take the MCAT exam, provides you with advisors, recommendations, community work and a curriculum for the science courses you must take (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). You can major in anything and still be pre-med. In fact, most medical schools are looking for well-rounded applicants who have majored in the humanities or social studies. Philosophy is a popular major among pre-med students who like to combine the study of ethics and science.

Check with your advisor. Usually you will be majoring in pre-med. If your university does not offer that choice, then go for a major in biology with a minor in chemistry. Be sure to take a lot of physics, too.

Usually a major in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry (any would do). Go to a small school if you can--larger schools have 300+ students in their science classes & it's based on competition. Don't do it unless you have a good math aptitude.
