Do you have the built in iSight cam or a 3rd party?

3rd party cams usually have the software included.

What I like to use is iMovie with my iSight. When you open the program, you'll find a screen appears. Under the screen is a switch to swap between files (scissors) and camera. Select camera and everything the iSight sees is displayed on the screen. Click the "record iSight" button (under the screen) to start recording. Click again to stop. Drag the clip from the upper right to the bottom and select the frame you want to save by scrolling with the screen bottom arrow. Under File, select Save frame. It will ask for a name, .jpg/.pict and place to save.

It's more work than some of the photo programs, but you can save whatever frames you want, vs only getting 1 shot to get it right without having to reshoot.
