OK, follow closely, the font you downloaded is, itself kinda like a word file that contains all symbols, letters, numbers and sizes for the font. Often it will spell out a sentence like: "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." Because these sentences contain most of the letters in the english language... anyhow, theres a folder on your hard disk. "C:\WINDOWS\Fonts" or somthing to that effect where all these font files live. You just navigate to that folder, drop in the font file, and next time you start up word, that font should be available to you.

To download fonts, you need some kind of file transfer
(like FTP) or some other sorts of downloaders
(ReGet Deluxe) or others, and a place on the web that exposes the files for download.
Once you have the font downloaded, it needs to be installed.
Go to control panel and select "fonts".
Under "file" you can select "install font"
Once its loaded, you are golden.
Now to actually select the font in word, I can't help, as I dont have word installed on this machine.
You can use "charmap.exe" and select a font, and copy paste the text into word, but actually within word you can select the font to use for text, I just don't know it off the top of my head.
