USA is a noun so it should be capitalized. Christopher Columbus Discovered it. He had 3 ships, the Nina the Pinta and the Santa Maria. He made the remarkable discovery that the world was not flat (at the time everyone thought the world was flat)
Then the French started coming in by ship as well. They laid out territories. and some of the first Roads here. The great lakes have French names as well as a lot of other stuff.
The Indians got pushed aside and America was born.
Thing were getting out of hand so the forefathers decided to start founding some Government. They drew up the Declaration of Independance to make us a seperate Nation.
Then we came up with a Constitution with "rules" (laws) because people were not getting along all the time. Worked really good for a long time but when Industrialization began that started an entire new revolution. You see, the more industrialized we became the more politicians started taking campaign contrubitions from the Big business to get elected and the politicans feel obligated to "cater" to the whims of the corporations instead of what may help us little pee-ons. But we do get to keep our income that we make and the harder we work the more we make. In some ways we do real well.

We are not really bad people in general but we have problems just like everybody else.

1. The Authors of The Constitution -- they imagined a set of freedoms that is the foundation of our belief system.

2. The Louisiana Purchase, the Train and Manifest Destiny opened up the continent.

3. World War II, the USA creating huge factories that were changed over to make products and the A-bomb created the Cold War.

4. Hollywood and Television make the US the cultural flagship for the world.

I would have to say that the US' progress has been enabled by two factors, rather than by any particular individual first, being a constitutional democracy, and secondly, by its entry into WWII and the industrial power that the nation perceived that it posessed as a result.

Milton Berle.

By the way "Big V", since you felt it necessary to give a grammar lesson, I've got one for you; you don't capitalize all nouns, only proper nouns, unless you are German and then you can't be held to account for such a trespass. I guess you are extremely involved in this because people are always forgetting to capitalize your first name, hence the "Big" in "Big V"...YIKES!
