could be braxton hicks practice contractions but keep an eye on how often these cramps are happening - make a note of how many minutes are between each cramp, if you have any fluid leakage including a 'show' then things are happening hunny - if in any doubt please please speak to your midwife - very excited for you - good luck ~x~

I'm 33 weeks pregnant too. I had my doctors appointment today and he said my baby is huge. I have an ultrasound at 4 pm at the hospital today and I already signed the cesarean papers. He said there is no way for me to deliver my son vaginally. I am suppose to be due Jan. 10th. I also have been having cramps, but I am a high risk pregnancy ever since 3 months. Tell your doctor, he will check if your cervix is still hard or if it is soft. Dehydration also causes cramping, drink lots of water. The difference between regular contractions and braxton hicks is braxton hicks contractions go away if you get up and walk or change positions..drink water. If they are real contractions, no matter what you do, they won't go away. But yes, contractions do feel like period cramps.

Contractions feel a lot like cramps. If they are painful- they are real contractions- if they just feel like tightening, then they are likely braxton hicks (practice contractions).
It's odd that at 33weeks your baby is already so large you need a c-section. Have they told you the range? C-sections are pretty bad (much worse then vaginal delivery in my experience) and anything under 10lbs should at least be attempted to be delivered vaginally.
If you go into labor now, there is a good chance your baby will be premature (even when they are large that doesn't mean their lungs are fully developed) you should call your obgyn- they may want to start you on a steroid.

I never had anything that felt like menstrual cramps. I would feel the ligaments stretching, and it was painful, but I don't think it felt like menstrual cramps. I would call you OB to be sure! You can never be too careful when it comes to your baby. I called them all the time when I was pregnant!
