Hey Hoyee,

Well, planning. Schedule, resources, Tasks, activities, responsibilities, locations, you have to get them all in order.

Start with the END in mind. How you see the END will affect how you plan the Event.

Write down each task that has to be accomplished to make the event happen. Put each on a 3m Sticky note. Then arrange the sticky notes in the order they need to be done. If two or more can be done at the same time (you go to the store, while spouse makes phone calls), then put them together in the same time slice. Estimate how long each task will take. Are there any constraints (wedding date is fixed, Holiday party must be prior to the holiday, etc.).

Planning is the Key!!!! Then once you have said who does what in what order, and when it needs to be done by. Review the plan with someone to 'test' it. Then, do the plan. You are in essence doing project management. Event management is the same thing.

Here are some web sites (go to the search string below), that have tips for various types of events. Most of all, enjoy the process.

First you concentrate on something you love and know!
Then, you motivate the proper people of your local community.
Then you run, work hard, do not listen to the ones who do not participate but criticize and finally, be ready for the triumph!
