Below is some information that might make you a more informed consumer. It appears from my search that there are a large number of leather dyers. Check a search engine to find one that is close to you. Also, note in the Wikipedia item that the mere application of a preserver like Lindseed Oil will darken leather. I suggest you apply that before dyeing. It might even give you the color you want. In any case, were you to apply the preserver after it is dyed, it may turn a color darker than you wanted.

A dyed leather carvingLeather dying usually involves the use of spirit or alcohol based dyes where alcohol quickly gets absorbed into moistened leather, carrying the pigment deep into the surface. "Hi-liters" and "Antiquing" stains can be used to add more definition to patterns. These have pigments that will break away from the higher points of a tooled piece and so pooling in the background areas give nice contrasts. Leaving parts unstained also provides a type of contrast. The predominant brand of leather dye is Fiebing Leather Dye.

Alternatives to spirit stains might include a number of options. Shoe polish could be used to dye and preserve leather. Oils, neatsfoot or linseed, can be applied to preserve leather but darkens them. For that reason, a wax paste more often than not serves as the final coat.

One interesting note, old gun rigs, saddlebags, wallets and cantanas used by cowboys and buccaroos were rarely colored in the old west. The red, brown, and black tones develop naturally as the oiled leathers absorb the rays of the desert sun.

Many dry cleaners know places that they can send leather items for cleaning. I bet some of these places also re-dye some items. If you ask your dry cleaner, they may take your item and send it out for the work you want done.

Warning--cleaning leather almost always makes it change color in some way. What you get back may not match the picture in your head.

I'd look in second hand store, ebay, or a western clothing store.
