The fuse blew for a reason, a short circuit or overload probably blew the fuse. It would be best to call an electrician and have them take care of it. Do not try to do this yourself as it appears you are unfamiliar with the electrical system at your home. You could be electrocuted or cause a fire. Wish you the best.

If it's a rewireable fuse it will be marked or colour coded for the amperage. It depends if it's a lighting or power circuit that has blown and more importantly -- why has it blown?? You will have to get some fuse wire of the correct rating, remove the old wire from between the 'prongs' and thread a new bit through, and under the screws. Turn off the main switch, replace the fuse bridge and switch on again. If it blows again you have a fault that need tracing and repairing. You should really have circuit breakers these days, then there is no wire required, just a little switch to re-set.

Ignore the above reference to glass covers etc, its yet another reply from the US trying to be helpful, they think that that the uk uses American wiring systems and components,!!

You don't say if you can see a little window on this fuse link, if you can then all you need is a new piece of fuse wire at the correct AMP rating! If you are talking about the main fuse which should be sealed then you are in for a bit of a time. 1. It is illegal to remove or even to break the seal on it. 2. this is not your property 3. The electricity supply has got the right to charge you for this work and may take you to court for interfering with their fuse.

Please post more information so that I can adjust my answer accordingly.

In the "little white box" there are the remains of a piece of wire. You need to replace this with the correct size wire.

DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Get a neighbour to do it, and to show YOU how to do it. Always keep spare wire for each size fuse you have.

If the house is your own, consider replacing the fuses with trip switches that replace them - very easy to do and foolproof in the future.

It's not illegal - you need to buy some fuse wire and replace it with the correct ratiing. It's easy to do bu unscrewing to 2 screws and wraping a single piece of wire between the 2 - through the chamber.
This is an old style fuse - but still perfectly legal in the UK, just not to latest specifications.

you want to get an qualified electrician out once conceivable, because he ought to do an insulation resistance try on the mild circuit to locate the priority. I had a situation like that at a shoppers abode and positioned that rats chewed through the wiring. It led to a joist to catch fireplace, yet fortunate for the customer the wires burnt off in the previous causing vast damage. i do not comprehend why rats want to bite electric powered cables, yet they look to love doing it. If the electrician can locate the priority it really is going to no longer value to a lot, to fix, because he can reduce the undesirable or damaged area of the cable out and use junction packing containers to affix a sparkling area of cable. basically be particular to get a component P registered electrician to do the paintings, because that's unlawful to do any electric powered paintings without being registered. Get a receipt at the same time as he did the paintings.

Get someone - a neighbour to look for you. They'll tell you what needs replacing. It could just be a trip-switch somewhere. Check no trip-swithches have been clicked off.
