Get the free, no post charges, http://ubuntu.org so that the thing actually runs about 50X faster, is virus free, and at 64 bit, the video is like, fantastic!

Microsoft tried to put out a 64 bit OS, that seems to have failed...

Why would anyone run a Ferrari on diesel fuel? That is what 32bit or 64bit Microsoft on a true 64bit hardware system is like!

Or, search the http://livecdlist.com for any of the 24 systems that are true 64 bit! All are FREE!!!

Without observation its difficult to predict but, I can provide you with some basic tips.

Check whether you have minimum 256 MB of RAM

Check to see your VGA Card Drivers are updated and your dont have any errors with them.

When you install too many programs at one time or when you have lot of programs which eats up the Physical Memory (RAM) while booting up then, I recommend you not to install a new RAM but to format your PC and reinstall your Operating System, cause installing a new RAM will not solve your problem

too long meaning what exactly?
if you have alot of startup programs then it'll take longer to start, if you don't but you make alot of changes it'll take longer to start, if you haven't changed anything or downloaded any updates to any programs or even deleted a single file and its taking longer than normal to boot up it could be something as simple as defraging the hard drive.
SOOOOOOOO many possibilities

could be that you have too many things installed on your system and it is locking it up...you may need more ram or memory.
