I'd have to say Eddie Rabbit. He had a string of hits in the late seventies and early eighties and had such a smooth voice and incredible song writing skills. He wrote some for other artist as well including Kentucky Rain for Elvis. Honorable mentions include George Jones, Willie Nelson, Crystal Gayle, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, George Strait, Toby Keith.
