If so, why is it the right thing to do. If not, why not. I need to write a persuasive essay about this topic. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you know any website that has graphs of the number of children who wear uniform to school now compared to before. Please and Thank You.

I wore uniforms all through grade school, and I hated it. But it also kept anyone from knowing how poor I was. As a teacher in a public school, I still would not recommend them. But it sure would be nice if students would dress appropriately for school. There are places and times for certain clothing. We have rules against spaghetti straps, shirts with inappropriate sayings, etc. and I can see how uniforms would help from wasting time on all the discipline of improper clothing.

1) Uniform brings people together, unites and equalizes them..
2) You don't have to waste time thinking what to buy or to put on for school.
But...
1) Wearing school uniform every single day for years and years is incredibly annoying!!!!! And might strongly mould your attitudes towards school & studying... (a big thing indeed)
2) Also there must be suitable uniforms for people of different body structures so that they would feel comfortable with available choices between trousers and a skirt.

For example I studied in a Swedish college (in Sweden 2005) and we had to wear school uniform surprisingly JUST on Thursdays! And that felt like the golden middle!!!!

Also children at my mother's school (in 5th grade in Estonia) had to wear extremely short and tight shorts, in other word - PANTS on their sport lessons with boys(!).

Yes,, it equalizes the children... If you are rich or poor, you look alike.. Also keeps distractions down.. You are not worried about looking at Sally's new designer jeans, or Freds new boots, etc etc.. Jennifer seems to attract more boys cause she wears such and such brand.. etc etc... I went to school where anything was fair game to wear.. My children wear uniforms.. They seem much more content than I ever did..

no people should express themselves how they want, because if everyone looks the same they start thinking the same... and then everyone is ruined
