I had that same problem, water was leaking in near the blower housing. Pull the carpet back from the foot well on the passenger side of the front seats, if its wet (and I'm sure it will be)
drill a few hole in the floor. That will allow the water to drain off, my leak (96 Grand Marquis) soaked the entire matting underneath the carpet. I took it out and hung it in my
garage for a few days till it dried. There is a screen in the corner of the fire wall where air enters into the car underneath the hood, it had foam gasket that was dried out and that's where the water was getting in. Use your cars a/c on max till your windows defog when its cold out. Having the a/c set to max will circulate the air inside the car through the heater core drying the air it as it passes through the hot fins of the heater core. I did get some stale smells for a while, use a alcohol based spray room deodorizer
on the carpet and spray some into the duct work of your hva/c when it is on.
Good luck

I could be that you have water in the trunk or there is water in you cabin. you can check buy taking apart your trunk take out the carpet all the interior and look for water. If your car has a mold smell then yes you do have water in your car. Also feel around the carpet and if possible take out the back seats and look under the carpet if you see rust or even worse rot than you have major problems. If you can look under the car and if you see rust or body rot than this is not good. Depending where the rot is you can be driving a car that is structurally unsafe.

inspite of my modern-day automobile, with a stable heater, I positioned a mains heater interior the vehicle as quickly as I upward thrust up on frosty mornings, depart the heater working for 20 minutes or so at the same time as I certainly have breakfast, then it extremely is all clean as quickly as I depart and maintains to be clean until the vehicle heater gets going. it extremely is swifter, quieter, and avoids chilly palms in comparison with spraying and scraping or leaving the vehicle working for 10 minutes. I as quickly as tried a style of little heaters that plug into the cigarette lighter socket, even if it substitute into rubbish, so confirm you attempt in the past you purchase. If the vehicle has a blower, yet no warmth, you should get a 55W headlight bulb (the old around form no longer the extra recent halogen form), spray it with warmth-resistant black paint, and positioned it on the sprint (yet do no longer enable it touch something flamable) the place the air blows to the show. A bulb converts approximately 10% of its capability to easy, and the different ninety% to warmth, so which you will have approximately 50W to warmth the air even in the past the engine is heat. yet extremely, only restoration the heater if there is one. what form of automobile would not have a heater?

Could be dampness in the car. Did you leave a wet coat in the seats or anything?
Aircon will shift it quickly, as it dehumidyfies (dries) the air.

It's water vapor in the air condensing. The surfaces on your car are colder than the air temperature.
