Start today.

Yes, you need to wait. Pills work a certain way, suppressing some hormones that cause you to ovulate. Since you are already 6 days or so into your cycle and most women ovulate around day 10, you are already too far into this cycle. You will need to wait. I hope you also know that you should still use a backup form of birth control for another month after beginning the pill just in case. You will need to let it 'build up' in your system.

Depends what pill you are taking. If you are taking the 21 day pill, and have had 7 days without, take it today, but if you are carrying over the next pack without having a break, that wouldn't be wise since you came on today. My pill says that it is possible to come on during pill taking days, and the protection will not decrease.

Take the pill for 3 weeks and off for 1 week...it doesn't matter when you get your period.

if you have been of the pill for longer then the seven day break then you need to start it today!!!! then you wil instantly be protected....otherwise you go back on it after the seven day break if you have just finished a pack, regardless if you have started your period or not!!

What do the directions that came with your pills say to do? Always follow the directions that come with your pills or the directions the doctor gave you in his office. If you are unsure what the directions say or accidently threw them out then contact your pharamcist and ask.

You would start them today, and try to remember to take them at the same time every day.
