You can leave home on your 2nd birthday if you want. The chances are your parents might want you back though.

Of course you CAN leave home at 16 - indeed, I did - well, at 17. However, I was joining a responsible organisation who provided work and accommodation for me.

It sounds like you just want to leave first and get all the required responsibilities afterwards. I see you also want to move in with your girlfriend.

Let me tell you, however much you think you know, you know NOTHING. You have a lot to learn, and one of them is if you and your girlfriend have a baby both of your lives will be ruined.

You need to get a proper job and worry about becoming an adult in a few years time. I assure you that you have plenty of adult years to enjoy (or otherwise). Your teenage years last but 7, and if you don't enjoy them to the full, part of your later life will be spent regretting it.

Whatever your problems with your parents, you only have ONE mother and ONE father, and any differences need to be sorted out. You will regret it later if you don't.

Why would you want to there's not a great deal for the older ones let alone the younger ones like yourself.. I'm 33 and I hate it i wish i was 16 again so i could make wiser choices than the ones i chose.. it isn't as fun as you think been an adult with responsibility's and commitments.. try and stick it out just for a little longer plan wisely or you're heading for a world of hurt and regret.. don't just do things on a whim or spare of the moment trust me that just leads to trouble.. If you're fed up with life at home just find something entertaining to do or speak to a close family member about your concerns.. I know 16 year olds think all older people were born old and don't know anything i know i did when i was 16 and I'll be the first to admit i screwed up big time with my choices I'm still suffering for them now...I wish you the best of luck with your choices i know it's the most difficult age to be at.. Good luck

Laws vary from state to state. Typically, emancipation can not occur unless you are able to support yourself financially which you can not do thru legal means. Most states require parental signatures for you to even be permitted to drive. You are not considered to be an adult or capable of making all decisions for yourself until you are18. You can speak with a counselor who can advise you of the methods of becoming a ward of the state and living with a foster family if accepted. Also you can land yourself in so much hot water that you end up living in a correctional facility. Some provinces do provide emancipation if you have a child, but the "system" will monitor you closely and make more demands of you than the typical parent of modern society does.

Have you enough money? A good job? A place to stay (your own place or a friend)? Could you cope if it all went wrong?

It's a big world out there - I've been living alone for 5 years - but I waited til I was in my 30's & got some sort of financial responsibility while living at home, as good practice.

Don't just do it cos it's "the thing to do", then regret it.

BY LAW, you are legally allowed to leave home at aged 16 with your parents permission.
At 18, you can do what ever you like!
I left at 16 to join the R.A.F.

Yes you can. But I bet you wont be gone long, living in your own flat is not as glamourous as you think. Erm let me see! Electric bill, gas bill, council tax, water bill, phone bill, food, clothing, money to go out with Oops sorry wont be able to do socialising once you have paid all of them bills. Do you still want to move out.
