I suppose its both really, though I like to see it as West Country, even if others disagree, but then, we are all entitled to an opinion! People from Britsol don't see it as a West Country accent, nor do certain people from Bath, I think they see the west Country accent as further outwards, towards Dorset and the like. Still, we all know that their ancestors were Saxons!

I was born and raised Bristolian and I think that I am bristolian as not all bristolians have an accent whereas most west country people do.
People Just assume everyone from Bristol has a farmers accent and i dont think that many people really do!!
I moved up north and just get stick all the time, damn them northerners!

West Country accent, I ' am American who lived in the Royal Forest Of Dean for many years, and I noticed the different accents, The Forster's had a different accent from Bristol's, and the Bristol's had a different accent from the Cheapstowians just over the bridge from Bristol..... It was great living over there though.

I'm not sure what exact accent they have but when i was there they sounded like nice english accents. I was visiting a uni there so some people may not have been from there but the ones i heard weren't like the horrible eastenders accents, or like the "Brits" that pronounce lovely - luv-le
