Hard to say, because I think once you have that impression you look for things that support that impression. It really isn't objective.

First impressions are the most accurate.
Because being impressed means the way our mind reacts when we first see somebody without putting any logical thinking with our reactions. First impressions are the results of intuition and subconscious feeling; this is the primitive behavior of humankind. Our sub-conscience knows better than our logical thinking, its like a kind of telepathic communication between people. The body language tells more and is accurate than any other logical analysis.

It's an interesting question and from the answers I read, some people think yes and others think no.

Yes, I can give a resounding yes and no to answer the question. There have been times when my first impression was correct and there have been times when my first impression was off base. Well, there you go - aren't well all fallible human beings?

Usually, the first impression is the one that counts, accurate or not. And with people who are adept at reading people are relatively
accurate.

That is why, when you are looking for a job, you need to make a
good impression up front.

In my opinion, First Impressions aren't fair enough to base an "impression." There is no way to truly get an impression based on a person's looks, or "best fake behavior," Not really.
People aren't going to be the same as they were a week later, not really. I know I'm all out going in the first impression, and then ask me out to lunch a week later, I'm all like shy and no thanks. So, they are Sooooo Inaccurate. It takes at least a week to get to know someone, don't ya think? I do.

Well, you see it for yourself everyday. If upon that first meeting, things go well, (chemisty), than I woud say go with your gut instinct and maybe see that person again. On the other hand, if the first impression is of a negative sort, that maybe you should just walk on.

First impressions go hand in hand with your gut instinct. You will know right away if something is amiss. Red flags will raise you and that usually means something negative. However on the flip side, if you find yourself smiling, flirting, flipping your hair and laughing a lot, I'd say the person made a great first impression.

It depends upon your ability to read someone. Most probably first impression is the last impression.

I have found, in my life, that first impressions are usually the most accurate because they are made devoid of any emotion or attachment.

For me, generally accurate. I can usually trust my instincts. I can tell if I click with someone or not. 99% of the time they turn out to be as I thought/felt initially. Maybe I'm a good judge of character. Or just lucky. Or maybe it's because I look people in the eye & see through to who they really are...
