It's called a "comfort zone." Which is not a good zone to be in married or not.
16 years is a long time to serve. I served 17 years. If you note I'm using the term "served." In the end it was like, looking back, I'd put myself in this prison of sorts. Anyway, this is about you.
Do you love her? Can you see yourself within the institution of marriage with this woman for the next 20 years?
Personally? I don't think that man or woman is made to mate with the same person for their entire life.
Whatever your answer is; remember this... you cannot create happiness through others, you must create your own happiness and from that everything around you flourishes. If you love her, talk to her. You've been married for 16 years! If you're not happy. Move on. Life is too short.

Your wife isn't an odd creature, she is average. Go on "discover" and you will find that this is pretty much the norm! Guys however, are much different so oddly enough, you are also in the normal area. I think God is up there laughing! If it is going to be once a week, then focus on making this time the best! Now if you want to try and increase this amount, the only thing that has worked for me is the opposite. I wanted to find out just how long my wife would go without intimacy. It was sort of my own personal study. So I was nice and attentive, but just didn't go after this area for 2 weeks. My wife started looking at me real funny for awhile, next thing I know she wouldn't let me out of the bedroom for 3 weeks, wink wink! However, just as I though everything finds it's comfort zone and we are as you, back to once a week. Then again we have a better time because of this little test! Good luck. Don't be afraid to test her!

Its not that we loose interest there are other things going on in our lives, like children, job, housekeeping and so on. I think now is when your wife would like something new from you, in other words make her life an adventure in every way possible. If kids are around there are ways to make her feel special. Have a date night once a week, take her dancing, to a movie, court her again.
After 16 years of marriage some women feel like there just there doing what there suppose to do and they begin to feel used, so its up to you to make her feel new again. Take your time with this, its not a race. I'm sure you still love her because you wouldn't have asked what to do, so tell her you love her, compliment her daily.

Maybe she wants more than wham bam thank you mam!
Men forget that a woman needs to know she is wanted. Try ROMANCE! Bring her flowers tell her she's pretty, call her during the day and tell her you have been thinking of her. DUH...why do men forget the good things!

It's really true....women don't lose interest that easily.....maybe it's all the house work she has to cope with. You have children? Maybe that's the reason too.....you and her should try to talk to each other about this.....like the other answers.....if you love her u should work this out.
