He feels that alcohol is a way of letting him go free. No violence..pleaze!

That's a tough one. When I was a teen and into my early twenties, I drank a lot!! Something I've noticed is that for most people, it's just a phase. There was only one of my drinking buddies where it developed into a problem and didn't outgrow his party days. Have him watch the movie "Leaving Las Vegas" where Nicholas Cage drinks himself to death. It's pretty disturbing.

The only way to change this behaviour is to have consequences for the drinking of alcohol. You will have to be cosistent and vigilant and apply consequences fitting the crime. This could include grounding, withholding money and whatever else you can think of that will have the desired effect.

He may already be an alcoholic and is addicted. Talk to your Dr. You may have to get him into a rehab program.

you cannot cater to his drinking
kick him out o the house
let him live on his own
let him drink him self up
let him wallow in puke
he needs to learn
he lack self confindence
that's why he turns to the bottle

Video tape him when he is drunk so he can see for himself.
