does anyone else think that community sentencing is a bad idea, i think that it is saffer to remove the crimnals from the streets be harsher toward even the smallest crimes and to have a zero tollerance judicail system, but to also build up rehabilitaion programmes inside the prison system for released offenders. does anyone agree/disagree if so why.

So where do we draw the line? It costs more to keep someone in prison than in a 5 star hotel. Our prisons are already overflowing. If everyone who now gets a community sentence got sent to prison, we'd have to double the number of prison places. Not many people are prepared to pay the extra tax that would be required to meet the cost of imprisoning everyone convicted of a criminal offence.

I think we should bring back the stocks.

Restorative Justice would be a better idea. For criminal offerders that are released from jail/prison, we should require them to work full time, and when they are not working, they should be required to "volunteer" in community-based programs (maybe even for a small paycheck) in areas such as job training skills, learning to speak English, teaching about birth control, gang violence, etc.

This might use up all of their free time in a productive way, keep them out of trouble, and give them a chance to give back to their communities.

Serious crimes - in prison forever unless hanging is brought back

Tagging system does not work. Also rehabilitation does not really work. WHO CAN GET INTO ANOTHER PERSONS HEAD TO DEFINITELY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE THINKING> SOME PEOPLE ARE VERY GOOD ACTORS THAT INCLUDES CRIMINALS, THEY KNOW HOW TO BE WHEN !!!!

Do you have any idea how many more prisons we would need to build and pay for in our taxes? No a good idea!

Only incarcerate violent offenders and abusers. The rest repay to society.Fit them with GPS,head-cam and microphone.Your out and we have tabs on you.$50,000.00 a year to keep someone locked down. Why not have them pay society, rather then society paying to confine them.

Imprisoning thieves and fraudsters is pointless. Why not just imprison dangerous and violent offenders? Thieves and fraudsters should just pay back double what they stole.

community sentencing in my opinion is a waste of time. if a person has done wrong they should be punished for it and if that
means imprisonment then so be it. i do beleive that capital
punishment should be brought back for offences like murder and
acts of terrorism.
