Yes it's a crazy law at 16 they can leave home, but cannot vote or drink legally till they are 18, you're friends son will probably return home after finding out how hard it is to live on his own

Unfortunately I left home at 16 and at the time my parents could have asked the police to bring me back..(your parents are supposed to give consent)but they realised by doing that they would just push me further away.So they let me go and make my mistakes which I did big time!It is the only regret I have in my life that I hurt them so much but I cant change it and I know that they love me loads (I am lucky to be really good Friends with my parents now!)So I suppose my point is let him go and chances are he will be back,I went back 4 years later and was welcomed with open arms ,he has to find out for himself its no bed of roses out there .Just make sure he knows that his parents are always going to be there for him if he needs them.

I left home at 17 and 9 months and my parents called the police. They came out and asked me if was there (at a friend's home) of my own free will - which I said I was - and left.
That was over 25 years ago; I don't know if the law has changed since then.

The regulation is a sprint a large number in this subject remember. it extremely is in no way the Police's trouble-free practice to seek for and positioned across back a sixteen twelve months old who has left their mothers and dads abode some hours in the past. E.g. if a woman went off at 10:00 on a Saturday morning saying she substitute into going looking around shops with acquaintances and her mom took it into her head to choose for her back abode, if she pronounced as the Police and pronounced so they could decline to do something approximately it. If the Police have reason to have self belief that a sixteen twelve months old is in probability of harm then they might seek for for the toddler and positioned across them back to their parent's abode. even if if in this form of case the Police evaluate that the toddler is probably to at as quickly as run faraway from their abode lower back and get into probability lower back, they might pass the toddler into the care of the job social worker for that section, rather of their mothers and dads, because of the fact the final way of keeping the toddler from destiny probability. As for leaving abode, in practice if a toddler elderly sixteen or 17 leaves abode the Police will only interfere if the toddler is in probability or is a sufferer of crime. mothers and dads have no criminal capability to imprison their sixteen twelve months olds at abode, so there is little element the Police transporting a sixteen twelve months old to their mothers and dads abode while the toddler can in the present day make off lower back in the event that they are desperate to realize this.

he can leave and they can get the police involved but as long as he can show he is not at risk there is little the police can do - if he can't prove that he isnt at risk the police can take action but that action will probably getting social services not taking him back to his parents also if he then accuses his parents of abuse (which he probably will) as the reason he left they are the ones that will get in trouble not him!

wrong wrong wrong they are all wrong... you are not free from parental responsibility until you are 18, i left home at 16 and was brought back by the police time and time again as my parents wanted me to stay!!! in the end the police tried to help my parents to compromise with me, which they did and now im happily married with children and my parents are happy and proud grandparents. phone citizens advice or the police for an enquirey if you like but those were the rules with me! and also my friend has just gained full custody of her 3 kids and they are under her care until their 18th b-day's so unless your friend agrees he cant move out- legally hope this helps x

let him go its legal to leave at 16 but he will soon find that its a harsh world out there.... and the comforts of home might just lure him back....that is if his parents want back ... they might just enjoy the peace and quiet and the extra money in their pockets.
