i am writing a paper on forced migration for my geography class and so far i've hit on the slave trade in america and the irish potato famine. does anyone have any other ideas?

Yes, try any war with refugees. They must flee/migrate to avoid death. Native American indians were forced onto reservations, to Florida, To Oklahoma, and others.
Try Katrina the hurricane... The power of wind and water took a whole city away.
Volcano's have forced the movement of people in the path of the flows.

The first ethnic cleansing was of Germans from Poland and the Czech Republic (East Prussia, Silesia and the Sudetenland) at the end of WWII. Millions had their property confiscated and were deported. The borders were redrawn and now Germany is much smaller than it was. Compare the map of 1936 with that of today. Your teacher will be impressed.

Best example otherwise I can think of would be the Nazis that captured Jews and migrated them to concentration camps.
We did the same thing with some Japanese soldiers during WWII.
