This problem started last wednesday and does not happen every time I roll out. I think the problem may be the fuel filter or that I got some bad gas because most times it runs fine. Any suggestions??

I'll bet I know the answer. Your engine is probably "missing". It's a term mechanics use to describe when one of the cylinders does not fire and is not synchronized with the rest of the cylinders. This will cause the engine to sound like a beat-up truck or like it needs a tune up. Try new spark plug wires, or if Worse comes to worse, try a new ignition system.

Mazda's are tough on spark plug wires. Because the distributer is sideways on your car it is difficult to get the correct leingth wires so buy tune up parts at Mazda. Do it all, dist cap, dist rotor spark plugs and plug wires at the same time. Fuel filter too if you cannot rember when it was changed last.
