the meaning of roy lichtensteins paintings wre about this;Mass goods are made to get a quick response and not much more,and art could be viewed the same way--graphically appealing with no content behind it.

Not necessarily. Pop art appeals to the masses & uses images that are familiar, that we relate to or are drawn to but I think there is still content behind it. A piece can be graphically appealing & still mean something. My own paintings are influenced by pop art & tend to depict feminine beauty but they still express emotion. The job of art is to get you to look & to hold your attention. If it does that, then it's a success. No matter what the form or content may be.
