Definately dress up. Jeans are not acceptable. Wear a shirt with a collar. Casual Friday was the beginning of the decline of midern civilisation!! Wink! Enjoy...

The day isn't as important as the TIME of day for attire. If you are going to an evening show, it's much more formal than an afternoon show. An afternoon show would require pants, while an evening show would need a full suit. Jeans are a no-no either way.
BUT, you shouldn't let traditions dictate your clothing. If you feel that you would be more comfortable sitting through a 2 hour show in jeans, then wear them. It will be dark in the theater, and no one will be looking at you, or your clothing choice. The only reason you might want to worry about it is if you are trying to impress the person, or people, you will be going with. Like you are meeting a girlfriends parents for the first time, or it's a first date, or some other special evening you have planned. Otherwise, just wear what you are comfortable in, and enjoy the show.

well if you were going to Broadway you'd want to dress up and look celebrity style Esq. if you were going to a theatre performance at a high school then jeans would be fine. I usually am working or performing when i go to the theatre but i have gone to watch Broadway and been SEVERELY under dressed. If it's an established theatre you should look kinda nice like a church outfit. (if you attend a dressy church) But yeah a nice pair of slacks and a dress shirt or tee shirt and dress jacket. Good luck and enjoy the Show.
Blessed Be.

Usually, there is no dress code for the theatre. However, traditionally, people dress up. You will see all kinds though. If you feel comfortable in a nice pair of slacks and a dress shirt...go for it! Here is an opportunity to clean up, look good and fit it doing it.

If you mean the theater(movies) then you should wear casual clothes
Like jeans and a casual shirt
If you mean theater(Play) Then you should wear some slacks and a nice shirt
Not too dressy but not too causal

no.
wear whatever u feel like
screw other people and their opinions
if you are going with someone and you want to make a good impression, or have it be a special night, then absolutely wear your best, and be the best that you can be.
but personally id go in the way I am, and not care about the other people. Wear whatever you like to wear. don't let their criticism make you change.

There's no such thing as a 'nice pair of jeans'.
Dress your best and people will respect you.
