I want to go directly to my websites when I get onto my desktop, so how can I put seperate pages on there, instead of having to go open the internet explorer to the home page and then going to favorites?

So for short, how can I add an icon to the desktop so I can get to a certain web site instantly?

That's why Bookmarks exist! This idea will never be accepted by anyone but yourself if it's for a PC/laptop desktop, any system like you want will require an executable to be placed on the desktop which will only ever open the browser at a specific address, so unless someone completely trusts you they won't adopt the idea. If you really want to create a desktop icon like that to use then just create a shortcut to the URL then right click it and change its Icon in properties, you only need to design a ICO file for it to use then.

Go to the address bar of the site. place your cursor on the icon in the address bar , left click and without releasing ,pull the icon into your desktop. release your click and the icon will be there for future use.

why not just put it onto your ie tool bar? as a quick link? to do so>
right click on tool bar in an empty area, then remove the little check mark next to lock toolbar.
next go to the site you wish to put as quick link
when the site is loaded, put your mouse pointer on the browser bar where the name is showing ( EXAMPLE) http://www. the thing i want to make a link to.com.
at this point you press and hold the left mouse button down while draggin it to the tool bar on an empty space and POOF YOU GOT A QUICK LINK
then right click empty spot on tool bar again and replace the check mark next to lock the toolbar THATS IT NO MAGIC ALL DONE ENJOY ~

You have to have an open browser first before you can go to any web page. You can make one of your desired pages as your home page and use favorites from there.
