There are audience participation dvds out there that might help with knowing what to yell out. As a virgin I would not recommend sitting in either the front row or the back row -it draws more attention. Also you may want to bring the following items: dry rice, a piece of toast, a watergun or squirt bottle, and a newspaper. If you know someone who HAS seen it, you may or may not want to bring them. Advantages, they can show you the ropes, when to throw rice and toast etc. Also some theaters no longer allow the throwing of rice (very messy) so make sure it's cool. Disadvantages to having an experienced friend with you are that they may maliciously want to make sure you get harassed for your "virginity"...the likelyhood increases with the amount of harassment they received their first time at Rocky Horror. It's been many years since I've been to the show ( a friend of mine in college was in the cast that performed in front of the screen) but having been on more than one occasion, I can tell you each experience is different. It depends a lot on the energy of the audience and on the quality and enthusiasm of the cast. I hope you enjoy yourself, and don't be nervous...it is meant to be in good fun.

Ugh! No! Say it extremely is no longer so! What an horrific thought! Rocky Horror substitute right into a one time element. no person engaged on it could have expected it to get the acceptance and following that it did. you only won't be able to PLAN that. interior the early 80s Richard O'Brian certainly make a sequel to Rocky Horror pronounced as ask your self therapy, and it suffered each and all of the subjects I assume a remake to go through. you won't be able to devise a cult classic. you only won't be able to.

Back when I was in college - like 25 years ago - I went to see it many times. You said you checked it out on the net - so you'll have an advantage of knowing a bit about it before you go. Also - you could rent the film.(two technological advances since my time - so I didn't have those advantages)
When you go - some people may be dressed as the characters of the movie and they may even be down in front - by the screen - acting out their parts.
Audience members throw things. There is a wedding - and everybody throws rice. It's easy to know when to throw the rice - so bring some! They talk about having a toast - and everybody throws toast. There is also a point when people throw playing cards.
It's audience participation - so audience members are yelling things out. Everyone calls Janet (Susan Sarandon) a slut. Two of the things I particularly remember yelling were 1) during the wedding there are some older people running across a yard and we yelled "Old People! Old People!" (silly, I know) and later in the film - there is - gosh - I can't remember - a guy who comments on the story. People always scream that he's boring and stuff. At one point - he says "In an empty house" and then pauses and then says "In the middle of the night" We used to yell so it sounded like this...
Us: Where do you masterbate?
Him: In an empty house
Us: Tell us when!
Him: In the middle of the night
There is also a dance called the Time Warp and everybody gets up to do it. They explain in the film how to do it - and by the end of the musical number - you'll have it down. Do it!
Truly - mostly everybody will be paying attention to the film and trying to get in their lines - so nobody will be paying much attention to you - so there's really nothing to be nourvous about.
I think I saw the movie 20 or 30 times over the span of a couple years. I was a theatre chick and it was just a fun thing to do at 11:00 on a weekend night. When I first went - I didn't know what was going on. But - really - nothing horrible happened. By the last few times I went - I was dressing up as Magenta (the maid)
The idea is to go to this movie over and over you so you will know what to throw and yell when - and you can come up with some good lines of your own! There will be people there with all different levels of familiarity of the film. People may be there celebrating their 100th time. And then - there will be virgins - like you.
People love the virgins - because they love to see your reaction to it all. Just go and HAVE FUN!

Oo oo oo! A Rocky Horror Virgin! I haven't met one of those since the mid '70s! ROFL.
Do as instructed in the detailed description above.
Maybe take your Mum. She'll be able to show you what to do! ROFL.
THE Cult-flick of my generation. Every theatre is slightly different. Just go and try not to gawk, and have fun.
It's great that our cultural icon is still making the virgins 'qiver with antici...'
'SAY IT'
'pation'.

You may wish to sit in the back the first time. THe show is a blast. I went ages ago and took the kids a couple years ago they had a blast. Sit in the back and make lots of mental notes about what to bring with you the next time you go! It is an "audience participation" show!
HAVE FUN!

Go all out when you go. I didn't when I lost my "virginity," and it wasn't nearly as fun as it is when I dress up and scream along with the movie. Have you found sites telling you what to yell when? Look for those if you haven't. Also, dress as skanky and with as much makeup on as you want! It's the one time you won't be judged for it.
Watch out for people bringing illegal things in--these include lemon juice and fire. People have been squirted in the eyes with lemon juice during the scenes in which people fire water guns, so beware of spraying "water." (This reminds me--also look up exactly what you're supposed to bring with you. I can think of newspaper, rice, playing cards, and toast off the top of my head.)
Have fun! This is a great, great experience!

Just go with the flow and expect to have fun. Follow the crowd or just watch. There is no preparation you need to do, unless you plan to wear a costume, which is not necessary. I don't think you need to be cautious about anything, except maybe flying toast.

The movie is in a cult status by itself, I think anybody who enjoys film should see this film, and hopefully sees it with an interactive crowd. It is almost a mandatory experience in my opinion.
regardless of what you know or don't know of the film, GO!!!
It is a hilarious experience that only gets better the more you see it in a good crowd.
