I just read an article about "the choking game" and it shocked me. I graduated from high school in 1998, and I never remembered kids talking about this. I knew kids who did drugs to get high, but nobody ever mentioned this. I have a younger sister who is 15, and I am now worried about how prevalent this is. She's never shown an interest in drugs, but I've now heard that some kids do this as an alternative "high" to drugs and alcohol. Does anyone have any information?

I'm 15 yrs old too...and I have heard of this game..but on the basis of actually seeing teenagers do it or hear them talk about it, no it hardly gets mentioned where I live...but then again they also had the other method of getting drunk and your parents not knowing of it...

how? because young girls would fill their tampons up with beer then inject them...wrongful I know...but in reality if you are educated about these topics its more than likely u wont do it...

so just talk to her about it and be clear and please dont interrogate her becuz then she'll refrain from telling you anything....so just be calm and open..and start off with another topic then slowly open up about the choking game...

it worked on me..not that i even wanted to try it...becuz of all the consequences...such as death and brain damage...so just be careful how u approach her...and be a friend not an adult...theres a difference..so once again good luck...

I had once read this article about playing the choking game and it said that a girl and her sister were playing this game and that after the game the girl had past out and she couldn't breath. Later that day she had died.(that girl was only 17 yrs old). so no matter what age they get don't let them play the choking game!

a friend's 11 year old daughter was at a party for her dance class when some kids around her age did this. the choked girl passed out and hit her head on the table, seriously injuring herself. of course, it could have been far worse.

oh yes, america, day care for infants and toddlers is just fine and doesn't create very disturbed kids... NOT!

I don't think that this is very common, although it is very risky. Cutting off the blood flow can cause permanent injury such as brain damage or even death. If you are worried about your little sister, I suggest you talk to her about it. Make sure she knows how dangerous it is. Of course, you should talk to your parents first, before approaching your sister. It is ultimately their decision whether or not she needs to be talked to about it.

Not really. I only know that two people take turns choking each other until they black out than the person who choked the other one revives the passed out person and they just do that over and over again.

They still do that? OMG kids in my school in the 80's and90's did that. Its dumb, very risky. My niece is 11, I asked her she has never heard of it, and dont think she would do it anyway. If you are that worried just talk to your sister about it

I don't think it is as common as it used to be. I didn't even know about it until around last year when I turned 18. I know my mom used to do it and she was surprised that people still do it. I never did it, nor did I know anyone who did.

And I grew up going to daycare and I never picked up any bad habits! lol...

A boy on my bus was actually talking about doing it a few weeks ago. Then everyone started telling him he was going to die. I'm not sure if he still does it.

A few kids at my school do it.
