How big are these bands in America?

Question

I'm a brit and have always wondered how well known some British bands are in America.

Are bands like The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, The Horrors, Dirty Pretty Things, Babyshambles, The Kooks, Razorlight or Muse well known over there?

Have you heard of them, do you like them, do they sell well over there and are they recognised in music magazines as good bands?

And the Artic Monkeys too.

Franz Ferdinand and Muse are the only ones i've heard of. I like em both.

I've heard of all of those bands. The Libertines are known because of that cokehead Pete Dougherty, not their music. Franz Ferdinand and Muse have had some success, mostly on Vh1 with their videos and Franz Ferdinand's song "Do You Want To" was on a shampoo commercial. Dirty Pretty Things, The Kooks, Razorlight, and the Horrors have had MySpace success, but other than that, nothing. Arctic Monkeys are actually pretty big in the US, they get a lot of media coverage, mostly in Spin and Rolling Stone.

I've heard of all of them except The Horrors and The Kooks. Franz Ferdinand and Muse are the most popular here. Franz Ferdinand was really well known when "Take Me Out" was released. I personally love Muse and Franz's music. I'm also a fan of the Libertines. I'm not incredibly familiar with the music of any of the bands, but I've read about all of those I've mentioned in magazines, mostly Spin (which is generally not mainstream music).

Franz Ferdinand is the only one of those I've heard of and they do pretty good here. I may have heard of the Libertines but not sure.
