Well. This is a simple problem. You might have format your laptop and installed the Operating System again or you might have installed a new program which had removed the decoder.

At the first place, a decoder is a small piece of program that lets you play a certain type of unsupported file in any Media Players.

As you say that the message says about a DVD Decoder, you are possible trying to play a DVD on Media Player but the player does not have a proper DVD Encoder.

Well, all you can do is simple. If you have PowerDVD, simple try to install PowerDVD and then you can play the DVD both on Media Player as well as PowerDVD because when you install PowerDVD, it automatically updates all available Media Players with the DVD Encoder.

Or else, you could visit, www.download.com and search for DVD Encoder and you will get a huge list of Encoders. Simply download one of them and install it in your Laptop and then your DVD will work 100%.

But as a final note I recommend you to view DVD using PowerDVD cause its designed to view DVD and its very easy to operate rather than Media Player.

Hope you got what you needed.

Hi!

The DVD decoder is a special program that enables you to play movies on the PC. For some reason the DVD player (the software) got misconfigured. Try reinstalling Media Player. If you recently upgraded from Media Player 9 to 10, just roll back the installation. If that doesn't work, then, install media Player 9.
If that doesn't work the use a free DVD player software:

Good luck!
